Zakopane, the Gstaad of Poland is situated in the Tatra mountains around two hours south of Krakow and near to the Slovakian boarder. Skiing facilities are modern, queuing bearable (considering I went Saturday), slops easy-peasy, just perfect for a one day skiing excursion at the foot of the highest Polish mountain the Morskie Oko (Eye of the Sea - 2499m ). It was freezing cold, but good weather to allow impressive views of the polish planes and Zakopane village nested therein.
Once in that corner of Poland, it is worth visiting Chocholow (yes, it's is pronounced completely different to what one thinks) famous for its wooden houses, traditionally washed once a year to become white wood again.
Word of the day: narta = ski
