Today I learned counting to 100. Good news is that numbers are structured similar to English and when you say your age you also end saying "so and so YEARS" And here the similarities end: If you are one year, you are 1 ROK, 2,3,4 LATA and 5,6,7,9 LAT. However, when you get to 11, the LATA/LAT pattern repeats every so often. My teacher could not tell me why this is, however confirmed the pattern is also valid when you pay (I now know why I never understood the cashiers here) and as a consolation she said this is found in all Slawik languages. So my age is trzydzieści jedem LATA ..... Or there about.
