My language school organized my host family, a married couple who only speak Polish with two children in their 20ies. They live in a centric 3 bedroom flat four minutes walking distance from my school and 15 from Krakow historic city centre. The daughter is currently abroad and I am staying in her room which is clean and (very) colorful (excellent decoration when learing colors in another language):
which makes up for the rather cold temperatures in the flat: The mother quoted a famous NIEMIC (polish for German, would you have guessed that?) doctor that apparently said 18C is a healthy room temperature and in fact she has an obsession with keeping windows open when outside is freezing minus zero). She is quite direct and thinks Swiss people are "snob" because we do not buy/have normal supermarkets chains that can be found inPoland and elsewhere in Europe (it's amazing how much Polish one understands when people start to gesticulate!) She works as a physio at very strange hours and really isn't the best cook on earth... The father likes watching TV which in fact he does all day long. They spend their weekends in their village, whilst their son stays here and looks after me i.e. cooks (he is very good handling the microwave) and also invites friends around who listen to obscure rock and smoke dope. Overall they are ok, definitelly do this for the money and not the love of intercultural exchange :-)
Word of the day: Włochy & Niemicy = Italy & Germany
